MEET THE FLORIST
My flower journey all began as a hobby; arranging flowers for family gatherings, catering events, and for my home. For forty years, I worked in my Mom’s catering business, Jeanette Topham Catering, then eventually took the business over. The catering business served my family well but as my four boys grew and went off on their own, I noticed a shift in my life and time for a change. Never in my wildest dreams, did I think I would start my own business doing something that I love!
After a few coincidences and the universe lining up, Parties and Petals was born. I have never looked back.
Since starting my own flower business, I have noticed that the air seems a little lighter and my world a little brighter. At Parties and Petals, I search for the most distinctive, quality blooms for my customers. I prefer to support local and New England flower farmers but am willing to purchase imported flowers as well! I like to forage in-season native flowers on the island to fulfill my approach to making each arrangement unique.

When I am not playing with flowers, I can be found spending time with my husband, Joe, my sons, grandchildren, Labs, family, and friends. At Parties and Petals, we stand firm in our belief that there should be no discrimination in love, and provide a respectful and safe experience for all couples.

I have named this precious cocktail bag "Aunt LuLu" after my favorite aunt from Maine. Our cocktail bag's birth begins in April 1977, as Joe made Aunt LuLu as an engagement present. My mother-in-law Esther Swain was a florist here and recommended that I use the basket to carry my bridal bouquet, for our wedding on September 24th, 1977. Aunt LuLu traveled with Joe and me to Maine a week before our wedding, and Esther Swain borrowed a room at a local florist's shop and proceeded to create such a beautiful bridal basket; I am so grateful she recommended it. We wrapped "Aunt LuLu" and safely returned her to Nantucket, where she napped for a few years.
We now fast forward to August 2020, when Bryan and Julianne became husband and wife. My first thought was "Aunt LuLu" needed to be awakened and revived to her original beauty. The only person I knew who could transform her was Stacey Perry, whose magical work with floral creations leave you in awe, and possibly a tear. Stacey took "Aunt LuLu" from a well-rested little basket to an exquisite bridal arrangement, and we are so grateful to be able to admire that beauty, thanks to her preserving the pictures.
We have now awakened "Aunt LuLu" again, celebrating the birth of their precious son, Bryan Martin, born on April 18th, 2020. Stacey has created a breathtaking basket, and we are thrilled to have this 3rd generation enjoying her work. It is our hope, long after we part ways, that "Aunt LuLu"s beauty and Nantucket tradition will continue on. Our deepest gratitude to Stacey for making this possible.

"Aunt Lulu" welcoming the birth of Bryan Martin
Stacey & the team at Parties and Petals blew us away with the floral arrangements for our wedding! Stacey was very friendly and personable, right from our initial meeting all the way to our wedding day! She was easy to communicate with, either by text or email for any updates or questions. I wanted some out-of-season flowers (dahlias to be specific) for our mid-June wedding. Stacey kept me updated as she contacted different greenhouses in the New England area, and also throughout the season to let me know how they were growing.

Unfortunately, only some of the Dahlias had bloomed by the time of our wedding, but Stacey went ABOVE & BEYOND--- dropping off the potted dahlias so I would have them to plant/watch them bloom later in the summer. She even dropped off a pre-wedding bouquet too, that was just stunning! Stacey saw my "inspiration photos" and helped make my vision come to life. I am still hearing from our guests about how lovely my colorful bridal bouquet was! She nailed the height, size, and color scheme of soft blues and "Nantucket reds" in our centerpieces, bridesmaids' bouquets, boutonnieres, and floor floral arrangements during our ceremony at Brant Point lighthouse. If you are considering using Stacey for a party or wedding, look no further and book her right now! She was incredible!! I am so happy that we had her as our florist!

She answered all of my many questions, provided a mock-up, met with us when we were on island prior to the wedding, and most importantly put together bouquets and arrangements that were exactly our vision for our wedding day. Working with Parties & Petals for our recent wedding was an absolutely incredible experience. They helped us with flowers for our rehearsal dinner at the Summer House, our ceremony at the Summer House, and our reception at the Sconset Casino. During the planning process, Stacy was extremely responsive and helpful. We didn’t have the clearest vision in mind, but she worked with us over many phone calls to look at inspirational photos and figure out what we wanted. She was extremely transparent about cost, even suggesting things that we could cut out to bring the total down. We explained roughly what we wanted based on inspirational photos and gave her a budget, and she just made it happen. On the day of we were absolutely blown away - everything was stunning, and the style was just like the inspiration photos. Stacey and her team made our wedding day even more beautiful than we could have imagined, and they made the process SO easy for us. I would HIGHLY recommend working with Parties & Petals.
